Trooper has made it from Springfield, Mo to Waveland, Ms to his forever home. There is still a huge medical bill left to pay for this dog. Please consider helping as it will help the next dog!
Trooper made it "home" for Thanksgiving
Shown above is Trooper - one of the most recent rescues.
Trooper is about 5 months old and was thrown from a pickup truck and abandoned leaving him with critical injuries to one leg. A local vet specialist was able to save the leg after waiting for five days as, in Mo, the owner is the only one who can give permission for the surgery unless abandoned. That process takes five days.

Trooper is headed to a forever home in Mississippi in a few days. A kind person is picking up Trooper on their way through Springfield and delivering him to his new home in Waveland, Mississippi. A long ride to a very special place!

A Note From Trooper 11/26/2012
Dear Miss Connie Foster:
This is Trooper here. Just wanted you to know that all is well. I am here in Mississippi and on the Gulf Coast. A long way from Missiouri and those horrible people that let me fall out of the back of a truck and abandoned me with a badly broken leg. What a difference a month makes in the life of a dog.
I have been forgiven for eating up the last roll of toilet paper and picking all the low fruit on the Christmas tree. Mother has opted to abandon any form of a normal Christmas tree (she says the top 18" decorated is just fine with her) and she has replaced the toilet paper and it is out of reach. Shucks...just when I thought I had found the ultimate game to play too.
But, not to be outdone - I found a big stick in the wood box and I took it to her bed today and chewed it to little bits and pieces and hid the remains under the blanket. She threw away my bits of stick into the fire! Now what sort of a mother would burn her childrens toys?
I love to ride in the car and truck - so, whenever I hear the jangle of keys, I know "we" are headed to town. I point out all the obvious cats and other dogs - I have the deepest deep throttled bark - Mamma says I would be on radio if I was a real person. I am a good car dog and I just sit and wait until she returns.
The cats and I have come to a sort of truce. They get that side of the bed, I get this side and Mamma gets those three square inches we allow her to have along with any remaining blanket. She does not share the blankets very well.
Just wanted you to know I am settling in to Mississippi life. Growing like a weed. Just goes to show it just takes one person to make a difference - so thank you Miss Connie and Miss Brenda McComb - without you, this placement never would have happened.
I am sending you my latest photograph - aint I handsome?
Your buddy,
Trooper.

Surgery Costs:
Rescue is a very costly business. In this case, a specialist was needed to save Trooper's leg. Route 66 would appreciate any donation you can afford to help cover those costs. You can use Chipin or date using PayPal. Both links shown.
