Maggie
Rescued just prior to being euthanized
Little Maggie is an example of why so many are advocates of, and working toward a No-Kill America. The vision is that along with spay/neuter and foster programs, healthy, social dogs and cats are adopted into loving, forever homes.
Maggie is a Jack Russell terrier who was picked up by Animal Control and scheduled to be euthanized. Surely, no one would want a dog who hunkered in the corner of the kennel too frightened to show her sweetness. She had mange, displayed peculiar tic-like movements--just not very adoptable. This girl was first on the list to die. (One of the pictures gives you an idea what her coat looked like before treatment.) Thankfully, a dog lover who saw Maggie, said she wanted to nurse her back to health and find her a wonderful, forever home.

Before treatment...
Maggie is about six months old, weighed only 11 pounds two weeks ago, but is now up to 18. No one knows what horrors this little girl went through before she was rescued, or how she managed to survive on her own. Her mange is demodectic, an autoimmune reaction and not contagious to other animals. Her neurological condition, called Cerebellar Hypoplasiatime will not improve, and will not get worse. It is simply part of who she is, and it does not distract from her personality or looks.
She gets along great with other dogs, loves to play and has a lot of energy. She is also content to keep herself entertained.
Because someone cared, Maggie has been treated and is doing very well now in a foster home. She loves the attention and is a very sweet tail-wagger. What a loss it would have been for her to die, unknown, unloved, and alone, her spirit snuffed before it had a chance to shine.
Rescued and happy, Maggie now needs her forever family to find her, and until she is adopted, she needs another foster home. Her present foster has her limit of pets, and Maggie must have another place to go.
f you can foster her, if you would like more information, or to request an adoption application, please email [email protected] . Thank you.
